Community Outreach

THE OUTREACH PROGRAM
In January 2006, Portland Youth Dance launched its Outreach Program with much success! We have developed a free dance program for children who have expressed interest in dance, but have never pursued it due to financial constraints and economic hardship. PYD is hopeful this initiative will cultivate greater interest in dance and will lead to scholarship opportunities for interested students.

Current Session: March 29th - May 17th
We are excited to announce a new session for children between the ages of 7 and 15. These free Hip-Hop dance classes are taught by members of the Upbeat Feet Youth Dance Company and will be offered at Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio located at 517 Forest Avenue in Portland. Classes will run on Saturday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 PM for a six week period from Saturday March 29th through Saturday May 17th, 2008. The session will end with a performance at Portland High School at the UpBeat Feet Dance Concert. There will be a Friday May 16th Dress Rehearsal.

Limited Space: Spring Session Full!
Portland Youth Dance is hoping to provide kids with the opportunity to participate in dance regardless of economic hardship or barriers. Our program currently has room for 30 participants. Spring 2008 is full and underway. If you have any further questions about the program, please contact Melissa Cloutier (Artistic Director, Upbeat Feet Dance Company) at 871-1013. With greater awareness and support, this program will continue to expand and reach every child in the community with a desire to dance. PYD seeks the community's support to achieve this goal.
